As the Canton Fair 2026 officially kicks off, thousands of buyers are flooding into the packaging halls. For spirits brands and craft distilleries, this is the prime window to secure a manufacturing partner for the upcoming fiscal year.
However, we’ve noticed a pattern. Most buyers walk into a booth and ask the “Standard Three”:
1.“What is your MOQ?”
2.“Can you do custom embossing or colors?”
3.“What is your lead time?”
While these are necessary, they are also “rehearsed” questions. Every supplier has a scripted answer ready. If you are looking for a partner to protect your brand’s reputation, you need to dig deeper into the technical reality of glass bottle manufacturing.
Based on Valiant Packaging’s experience working with over 200 global brands, here are the three questions that will actually tell you if a supplier is world-class.
1.”Show Me Your QC Documentation—Not Just the Samples”
A sample bottle sitting on a lighted shelf at the Canton Fair is designed to look perfect. It will always be high-clarity Super Flint Glass. But a sample doesn’t prove mass-production stability.
·The Expert Move: Ask to see actual Batch Records or Defect Rate Logs from a recent production run of 20,000+ units.
·Why it matters: You need to know if they can replicate that sample’s quality across an entire container. A professional supplier should be able to discuss their AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) standards and show third-party inspection reports (SGS/TUV).
2.”What is Your Policy on a 5% Production Shortfall?”
In glass manufacturing, the yield rate is never 100%. Due to the complexities of the Annealing Lehr (the cooling oven) and mold variations, the final count might fluctuate.
·The Expert Move: Clarify the “Shortfall vs. Surplus” policy. If the factory produces 5% less than your order, do you get a refund, or do they ship the balance later?
·Why it matters: For a distillery, a 5% shortage means 5% of your labels, corks, and liquid sit idle. Valiant specializes in Supply Chain Synchronicity, ensuring our yield rates are communicated transparently to keep your bottling line moving.

3.”Where Does Your Silica Sand Come From?”
The brilliance and “Sparkle” of a premium vodka or whisky bottle depend entirely on the chemical composition of the raw glass.
·The Expert Move: Ask about the source of their Silica Sand and the percentage of Cullet (recycled glass) used in their Super Flint production.
·Why it matters: Low-grade raw materials lead to a slight green or yellow tint and reduced Breaking Strength. If a supplier is vague about their raw material origin, it is a red flag for long-term consistency.
